This study examines a Kashmiri folk song tradition called Wanwun. Wanwun are songs sung by women, usually during joyful occasions such as weddings. However, these songs are not just for entertainment. We analyzed modern Wanwun songs to uncover their hidden meanings. We found that people use these songs to express their daily lives, their problems, and their hopes for the future. For women especially, Wanwun provides a safe way to share their true feelings about society. These songs serve as a secret community diary. Today, people share Wanwun online through videos, which helps keep their culture alive and vibrant. In short, if you want to understand how Kashmiri people truly feel, you should listen to their Wanwun songs.
