Family Planning and Fertility among the Garo Women of Garo Hills, Meghalaya

The present research was conducted among Garo women in the Garo Hills, Meghalaya. In this study, a total of 233 samples from Bajengdoba village and 252 from Tura town were collected from ever-married women aged 15 to 49 years. Although most married women in the Garo Hills are aware of contraception, only a few have chosen to adopt family planning methods due to their reluctance. Family planning methods are typically adopted only after a mother has reached her desired number of children, which has contributed to the high fertility rate observed in this study.
